Bug-fix release to address issue with GFM observed flood extent and likelihood values

In recent weeks, the GFM algorithm development team has investigated some inconsistent flood classification likelihood values that were spotted for certain Sentinel-1 scenes.

Floods in France, March 2024

Storms and periods of heavy rain led to multiple flooding incidents in France during March 2024.

The month started with stormy weather impacting southern areas of the country on 03 March 2024. Flooding and landslides were reported in areas of Alpes-Maritimes department. Strong winds also caused damage.

During the month of March, there were 277 stations with exceedances, 32% less than the previous month. Most of them are again in Spain (81 stations). In Italy there are 71 stations with exceedances and in Poland there are 47 stations.

All EFAS partners may request a training on the EFAS service and products to better make use of the available information. On February 29th – March 1st 2024, an EFAS training was held for the Slovenian Environment Agency (ARSO) and the Croatian Meteorological and Hydrological Service (DHMZ).

Release of new EFAS version 5.1
